PLYMOUTH – The race for seats on the Plymouth School Committee has suddenly gotten crowded.

Less than a week ago, only two people – incumbents Margie Burgess and Kim Savery Hunt – had been certified as candidates for the three open seats on the board.

Friday, South Plymouth resident Vedna Heywood returned papers to run for one of the three-year terms.

And now, just hours before Tuesday’s 5 p.m. deadline, Manomet resident Jay Ferguson has returned his nomination papers.

Town Clerk Laurence Pizer said he has verified nomination signatures and certified all four candidates for the May ballot.
